A SILENT HERO

The Silent Hero

This is a true story of living life to the fullest…

Born in Nueva Caceres, Oslob Cebu, on April 4 1918, Isidoro Filipinas Getubig have grown an exceptionally healthy man. He recalled that he never once brought to the Hospital nor have had fever or colds in his teenage life. His mother,Agripina Filipinas preciously love his son, Isidoro and would even comb his hair before going out of the house and put an oil or ointment before Isidoro goes to sleep. Even on his 90s Isidro still do the same daily. He was then known as “Bulldog” in his youth for having an exceptionally muscular built. But his father, Simeon Getubig, whom he described as a strict disciplinarian, would spank Isidoro with a thick rope for reasons Isidoro described as “sala sa bata”, sin of a child. Isidoro recalls that he could sense when his father would castigate him when Simeon closes the window of their house and prepare a bundle of rope while inside the house. The moment Simeon touches his arm, Isidoro quickly jumps from the window. His grandmother passed away at the age of 113 due to a burning accident while cleaning the backyard from dried leaves. Her dress, which was then made of silk, was accidentally caught with fire.

Recruitment as soldier

As a soldier for the World War II

Grandfather would repeatedly tell me that in his youth  that he was designated as a machine gunner. But when asked how many enemy he had killed in battle he would just remark “aw naa jud tingali”, in English means, “there might be”. I did not further asked whether he saw his target while firing his Machine Gun, he described as “water cooler”. Even on his 90s Isidoro could still perfectly recall those guns he used during World War II.

As an elected Brgy. Kagawad

With his election campaign “kung moboto mo, mayo, kung dili, maayo”, Isidoro won the brgy. Election. Being a resident of Bayubo, Las Nievas since 19xxx, Isidoro rose out as a dedicated Brgy. Kagawad.

Best Friend

Juan Ipig Cabusas, met Isidoro sometime in year 1967. He was the only person in the world who shared Isidoro drinking a coconut wine on top of a coconut tree while star gazing the sky. Nong Ipig recalls that he can never recall at single instance that Isidoro and him argued nor have they misunderstood each other. The friendship of almost five decades started when Isidoro one early morning went to Nong Ipig’s house somewhere in Bayubo, and asked the latter if he could harvest a palay from his field. Isidoro would then give Nong Ipig harvested palay once harvesting season comes. Nong Ipig described Isidoro as a extremely hardworking person and extreme poverty was never a factor for him to raise his nine children namely, xxx, her wife, xxx Vidal died due to ovarian cancer. Isidoro’s family was once the poorest, if not, the less fortunate persons in his town.

Isidoro would sell Abaca broomsticks, piglets, vegetables, just to buy salt in the kitchen. There was even a time, his one daughter would cry, while eating their dinner realizing they were eating “onaw”, a food usually feed to the pigs. They were the poorest of the poor. At one time, Isidoro would

Our teacher in taxation and legal ethics have repeatedly reminded us to make a complete opening sentence argument.

This is a classical example of a bar answer:

“No, Bank B is incorrrect under the Independence principle.

Independence principle pursuant to a Letter of Credit transac-

tion provides that (in this clause you either provide GREG opener on

legal issue which is classified as the ground requisite, exception,                     general rule provision) VALIDITY OF CONTRACT OF SALE IS

INDEPENDENT TO THE OBLIGATION OF THE BANK UNDER THE

LETTER OF CREDIT.

In the present case, (insert connective word which emphasizes affirmation or negation to the GREG opener. Since the GREG above is in the nature of a general statement or the general rule, then affirm the facts) THE CONTRACT BETWEEN A AND B IS INDEPENDENT UPON THE OBLIGATION OF THE BANK TO RELEASE THE GOODS SUBJECT OF THE LETTER OF CREDIT. THUS, (here you close by a qualifier statement) BANK SHOULD RELEASE THE GOODS TO A.

How examiners will point the essay above:

The GREG Opener constitute half of the total points. The connective premise and closing statement are 1/3 apiece.

THe reason most of examinees fail is because of lame presentation of the GREG opener. The legal issue of the problem would always revolve on the governing text of the law, which has four (4) essential structure: The Ground provision or a statement which justifies certain act or judgement, or Requisite provision which follows a strict chain of reasoning based on the requisites involved, and the General rule/principle which is a statement widely respected and given more weight unless any exception clause applies.

Good luck!

imahe will probably change the face of Philippine politics.

It will awaken the filipino consciousness. Young people will value more on their own stand of reality than what the media or parents told them so. This is social conditioning. While listening to Tyler Durden’s seminar on real social dynamics, I thought he was right. social conditioning affects our perception of reality. we assume things that weren’t true in reality.

As a student politics, and being a practitioner of it, decision matters. Every set of tiny decision will change the course of history. As when Bush decided to invade Iraq, or how the Arroyos chose to cheat than play fair during the 2004 polls. Everthing has changed since our leaders decided what and how.

But how are decisions made? What decides or not to decide something?

Marx argued that our social structure determines the economic structure. In English, people who are rich will more likely control the poor, and the economy. In a democratic setting, people will decide who will “decide” their faith. This is called the “social contract theory”. John Lock says the governor should govern with the consent of the governed.

Now the problem now is whether we can make the “right decisions”. that is why Marx suggested that it would be better to abolish the social structure by making it a “classless society”. No one will decide except the one people. By the emergence of a welfare state, this idea has been abandoned by many and replaced it with a representative democracy.

I could still recall my teacher Myrthena Fianza, told me to make a study about Political Culture. At one instance, she said it is better to abolish the “Congress”. All these statements lead me to one conclusion that is time for me to redefine our “political reality”. What dictates our reality is caused by our day to day transaction with the media, religion, and of course politics. We accept5 thingas as if they were true.

I would like to make a political party called “Imahe”. Imahe will represent the “blind sector”. The sector who doesn’t know the truth. Youth without proper education. And this young generation of “uninformed”. In my next article I will provide a political platform to make this thing working for the 2012 election.

Peace and Wassalam!

Hello world:

One step at a time. This is the first step. I will also end it here, on this site, the reign of so-called–corporate media.

When people talk about gossip about a celebrity, everyone wants to know about the juicy part of it. Just like Andy getting pregnant. The juicy part there is not “is it a boy/girl?”. People wanna know “who is the father?” But beforehand, they already have a clue whom Andy is dating with. After knowing that Pedro is the father, everyone starts to feel the “sexy” about the two. Suddenly, they became popular.

I know the above illustration is quite far from my real goal here. I wanna talk about “counter media” by the way. And I wanted to start here, on this space, on this words. Thanks to WordPress.

This is actually an outline of what I would be doing for the next two years of blogging.

First, I will talk about the concept of “counter media”. (this is of course, not a lecture)

Second, I will present why “counter media” will change the whole equation of media bias.

Finally, I will highlight one by one, piece by piece, my strategy of counter media applied in the Philippines.(“place to be”)
